OCTOBER EVENTS

October 7

In honor of Women Entrepreneurship 2020, Berkeley College will host a special virtual event that includes discussions with prominent leaders in business, government and media. “Change Leaders: Women Recalibrating the Future” is part of a global initiative to elevate the voices of women on key issues. The event, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., will focus on strategies for empowering women economically and politically, incubating the future of women entrepreneurs and other important issues. Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, New York, will deliver the keynote address. Panel topics include:

Courageous Women Advocating for Equality and Justice
Empowering Businesses Beyond the Reopening
Reclaiming New York City – Bringing Back NYC’s Economy
Lunch and Learn with Career Coaches and Media Experts
All About You – Focus on Empowering Your Personal Brand

October is National Disability Employment Awareness month. In recognition, Berkeley College is holding a webinar on “Heroes in Need of Heroes and their Stories,” highlighting veterans with disabilities. The webinar runs from 2 to 4 p.m. and there is no cost to attend. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Webinar speakers from Berkeley College include Sharon McLennon-Wier, PhD, CRC, LMHC, Director of Disability Services; Edward Dennis, Assistant Vice President, Office of Military and Veterans Affairs; and Diane Recinos, EdD, Senior Vice President of Student Success.

Guest speakers include Elana Duffy and Earl Lundy, United States Army; Vanessa Hughes, United States Marine Corps and Firefighter; Matthew Sparks, United States Air Force and Army National Guard; Amanda Cherry, Iowa Army National Guard; and Gregory Sanchez, United States Marine Corps.
